A mother admitted to killing her son, claiming she felt ‘twisted’ and lost control of her actions before the tragic incident.
Haverfordwest: A tragic story unfolded when a mother, Papaipit Linse, killed her seven-year-old son, Louis. She described herself as feeling “twisted” and out of control before the incident.
Linse, 43, was arrested after she called the police on January 10, admitting to the crime. Prosecutor Caroline Rees KC shared that Louis was a “brilliant, lovely little boy.”
When police arrived, they found Louis unresponsive in his bedroom. Despite attempts to revive him, he was pronounced dead shortly after. The cause of death was confirmed as ligature strangulation.
In court, Linse expressed that she felt “totally mental” and like a “robot” during the incident. She mentioned feeling “weird and unsafe” in the days leading up to Louis’ death and even claimed her house was haunted.
Her mental health had been declining, and her babysitter noticed a significant change in her behavior. Linse had become unkempt and was preoccupied with conspiracy theories.
Though she pleaded not guilty to murder, she admitted to manslaughter due to diminished responsibility. The court learned that Linse had no prior convictions and had moved to the UK from Thailand in 2017.
Dr. Owen Davies, a forensic psychiatrist, testified that Linse’s actions were linked to her mental illness, specifically paranoid schizophrenia. He stated she believed she was being controlled by an outside force.
During sentencing, Judge Paul Thomas acknowledged the tragedy of the situation, emphasizing that Linse’s actions were not a reflection of her character but rather a result of her severe mental illness.
Linse was sentenced to be detained under the Mental Health Act, with restrictions that could mean she may never be released if deemed a risk to herself or others.
