Los Angeles: A grieving mother, Shelley Sykes, has opened up about the tragic last moments of her son, Rory. He told her, “mum, leave me,” just before he lost his life in the devastating fires.

Rory, 32, lived in a cottage on his mother’s estate in Malibu, California. Sadly, the flames engulfed his home, and Shelley was unable to help him due to a broken arm. She couldn’t lift him or get him out in time.

Rory was born in Britain and was a child star on the 1988 show Kiddy Kapers. He faced challenges like blindness and cerebral palsy but was a huge fan of Apple products and loved playing RuneScape.

In an interview, Shelley shared her heartbreak, saying that when she tried to call 911, the lines were down. She felt helpless, and it was a nightmare for any parent to endure.

She believes Rory died from carbon monoxide poisoning caused by the fire. When she rushed to a nearby fire station, she was told they had no water to fight the flames.

Rory was known for his inspiring speeches about living with disabilities and co-founded the Happy Charity, which aimed to bring hope and happiness to those in need.

On social media, Shelley expressed her deep sorrow, announcing her son’s passing and sharing how much he meant to her. He was born on July 29, 1992, the same day as his grandmother, making him a special gift to the family.

Rory was not just a son but a humanitarian and a devoted fan of Apple and Tim Cook. He will be missed by his mother, his online followers, and even his pet peacocks.

As the fires continue to rage in Los Angeles, firefighters are struggling to contain the flames, which have already claimed at least 16 lives and destroyed thousands of homes. The weather is expected to worsen, with strong winds returning this week.
