Everton: A young mum, Sophia Dillon, found herself in a wild police chase after panicking about family passports. She was just 20 and driving without insurance or a proper license.

So, there she was, speeding down the M60 at 121mph, with her two-year-old son in the back seat. The whole thing kicked off when she thought she was late to grab the passports for a family trip.

She was weaving in and out of traffic, almost losing control behind a lorry. At one point, she claimed her son wasn’t in the car during the chase, saying she picked him up when the police lost sight of her. But prosecutors argued he was in a booster seat without a seatbelt when they finally stopped her.

The chase lasted about seven minutes, and she even drove on the hard shoulder. It’s a miracle no one got hurt. After running red lights and evading the police, they eventually found her car about ten minutes later.

In court, Dillon explained her panic was all about getting those passports in time for their flight. She insisted her son wasn’t with her during the chase, but the judge had his doubts. He said if he was sure the child was in the car, she would be facing jail time.

Ultimately, she pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and got a suspended prison sentence. The judge made it clear that even if her son wasn’t in the car, her reckless driving put everyone at risk.

Her lawyer mentioned that she was just overwhelmed that day, trying to juggle everything. Now, she’s got 150 hours of community service and an 18-month driving ban to think about.
