A mother is devastated after receiving a cruel Christmas card targeting her disabled son
Basildon: A mum named Jade Lloyd is in shock after getting a nasty Christmas card. She thought it was a festive greeting, but it turned out to be a cruel message aimed at her autistic son, Harrison.
The card called her son ‘dumb’ and even told her to move away. It was filled with awful insults, referring to her family as the ‘Addams family’ and suggesting they should live in a cave. Can you believe that?
Jade, who’s 35, said Harrison is pre-verbal autistic and hasn’t had any issues with other kids at school. She’s confused about who could have sent such a mean card since she’s not one to stir up trouble.
After showing the card to friends, they all think it’s from another parent at the school. Jade reported it to the police and the school, but now she feels anxious, always looking over her shoulder for more hate mail.
When she first opened the card, she thought it was a mistake. But as she read it, disbelief set in. How could someone be so cruel, especially to a child who can’t defend himself?
Jade is left wondering who could harbor such resentment towards her son. Harrison is a sweet kid who’s been at the school for five years without any problems.
She suspects the card is from a parent, but there’s been no specific incident to explain the hate. It’s just so out of the blue for her, especially with no context behind it.
Jade wishes she could find out who sent the card but fears more might come. She’s uneasy knowing someone knows her address and is nervous about what they might do next.
Essex Police have acknowledged the report and are looking into it. They encourage anyone with information to come forward. It’s a tough situation, and Jade just wants to protect her vulnerable child.
