A search operation was launched in East Lothian after a light was spotted falling, involving police, coastguard, and a helicopter.
North Berwick: So, there was this big search operation that kicked off at a popular walking spot in East Lothian on Tuesday night. It all started when someone spotted a light falling from the sky, which got everyone a bit worried.
Police, ambulance crews, and even a search and rescue helicopter were called in to check out North Berwick Law around 6 PM. They were really on it, trying to figure out what was going on.
The coastguard helicopter from Prestwick flew around the area, using thermal imaging to look for anyone who might need help. The local coastguard team joined in too, making sure they covered all bases.
Police Scotland later confirmed on social media that they hadn’t received any reports of injuries, but the search was still in full swing. It turns out a runner was seen in the area just before the light was reported, which added a bit of context to the situation.
In a Facebook post, the North Berwick Coastguard team explained that they were called out after reports of the light falling. They were on the scene super quick, within 15 minutes, and started searching right away.
After a thorough search, they found nothing and confirmed that no one was missing. It seems like the whole thing was a misunderstanding, but it really showed how well the emergency services can work together.
They also reminded everyone that if you see something concerning along the coast or in the water, just call 999 and ask for the coastguard. Better safe than sorry, right?
Police Scotland reiterated that they were aware of the concerns about the light and were actively searching the area, but thankfully, no one was reported missing.
