Plymouth: Drivers should expect delays at a main roundabout. Gas pipe upgrades are happening in the Pennycomequick area.

The work started on February 3 and will finish by March 3. Wales & West Utilities is managing the project with Plymouth City Council. They have set up traffic management to help reduce disruption.

Lane closures will affect Pennycomequick roundabout, Pennycomequick Hill, Stuart Road, Alma Road, and Whittington Street. Motorists should plan for extra travel time during this period.

Abby Smith from Wales & West Utilities is overseeing the work. She mentioned that this upgrade is crucial for keeping gas flowing to homes and businesses.

Most of the gas network is underground, but it’s vital for daily life. It helps with heating, cooking, and hot water.

This project also prepares the network for future green energy options like hydrogen and biomethane.
