A man from Newton Abbot has been sentenced for raping two women he met online
Plymouth: A man named Ford Dixon has been sentenced for some truly awful crimes. He met two women through dating apps and ended up raping them. It’s just heartbreaking.
Dixon, who’s 35 now, was found guilty of multiple counts of rape and assault. The incidents happened back in 2020, and it’s been a long road to justice for the victims.
He first met one woman online, flattered her, and then demanded sexual acts. When she refused, he raped her. She was so scared that she ran out of his house without shoes, and thankfully, someone called the police for her.
Just a couple of months later, he did the same thing to another woman. Even though she made it clear she wasn’t interested in anything sexual, he went into her bedroom and assaulted her. It’s just sickening how he manipulated these women.
During the trial, both women bravely shared their experiences. One of them said she now feels anxious and has to see a therapist. It’s so sad to hear how much this has affected their lives.
The judge didn’t hold back when sentencing Dixon. He pointed out that Dixon has a long history of criminal behavior, including harassment and violence. The judge made it clear that Dixon poses a danger to women.
In the end, Dixon got an 11-year sentence, which could be extended. He’ll be on the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely, and there’s a restraining order in place to keep him away from the victims.
Detective Con Andrea Dominik spoke about how Dixon took advantage of vulnerable women. She emphasized the bravery of the victims in coming forward and how important it is for others to feel empowered to do the same.
It’s a tough situation, but hopefully, this verdict brings some closure to the victims. They deserve to feel safe and supported.
