Monmouthshire: The council has given the green light to some interesting planning proposals recently. They’ve approved a single-storey rear extension at Glascoed Fach Farm in Llanbadoc. This extension will create a bigger kitchen and dining area, plus a traditional porch. The decision was made on December 23, and it was handled by council officers, not the full planning committee.

On the flip side, a proposal to convert a historic Dutch barn in Raglan into a three-bedroom home was turned down. The barn, located next to Chapel Cottage on Broom Road, was meant to be transformed, but the council refused the application on December 30. Again, this decision was made by a delegated officer.

In Llandenny, a cottage has received approval for some extensions and outbuildings. The council gave the thumbs up for developments at Pergoed Cottage on Lower Raglan Road, which fell under permitted development rules. This means they can go ahead without needing full planning permission.

Minor changes to The Wild Hare hotel in Tintern were also approved. The alterations include replacing doors and windows and updating the cladding on the chalet buildings. This was also decided by a delegated officer on December 23.

Lastly, plans to expand a building known as The Mill in St Brides Netherwent were approved. This decision allows for changes to the internal layout, increasing the building’s footprint. The application was registered under DM/2024/01451 and was also approved on December 23.
