The Met Office forecasts a shift to milder weather this weekend after a cold snap with snow and ice warnings across the region
Wales: After a week of chilly weather, it looks like things are finally warming up. The Met Office has been busy with weather warnings for snow and ice, and many folks woke up to a snowy Sunday morning.
But don’t worry, most of that snow didn’t stick around for long. It got washed away by rain and sleet. The daytime temps have been pretty low, hanging around 1°C to 5°C, and some nights dipped down to a frosty -5°C.
Tuesday is looking a bit milder, but then it’ll cool off again until Saturday. That’s when we’ll really notice a change. On Tuesday morning, Wales saw 4°C, but some areas were still stuck at -2°C.
As the week goes on, Tuesday afternoon should be around 5°C. By evening, Cardiff will drop to 1°C, while north Wales stays a bit warmer at 3°C. By midnight, it’ll be chilly again, ranging from 1°C to 0°C.
Wednesday morning starts off cold, with temps hitting -2°C. But by 10am, it’ll warm up to 2°C to 4°C, peaking at 5°C in the afternoon. By midnight, expect a range from -2°C to 0°C.
Thursday kicks off with a similar chill, with temps between -3°C and -1°C. Anglesey will be the warmest spot at 3°C. Mid-morning will still be cold, with mid Wales at -1°C and the south at 1°C-2°C.
Friday morning starts off cold again, with temps between 2°C and -2°C. By 3pm, we’ll see highs around 4°C. The good news? Friday night might not drop below 0°C, which is a nice change!
Saturday is when we’ll really feel the difference. Morning temps will range from 6°C in Anglesey to 3°C in Cardiff. As the day goes on, expect highs of 8°C in Cardigan and 9°C in Pembroke by 3pm.
Sunday will keep the milder trend going, with midday temps from 6°C in Cardiff to 9°C in Pembroke. By 3pm, it’ll be even warmer, with Cardiff and Newtown both around 7°C. Overnight, it won’t drop too much, staying around 7°C in Cardiff.
