The Met Office forecasts a rise in temperatures next week after a cold snap, with lows of -6C expected in Wales this Friday morning
Llanwddyn: So, the latest weather maps from the Met Office are showing that we’re in for some seriously chilly nights. But don’t worry, warmer days are on the way next week! This Friday morning, temperatures in Wales could drop to a bone-chilling -6C, and there’s even a weather warning for ice.
It looks like Llanwddyn in north Powys will be the coldest spot, hitting those frigid temps. Other areas in Powys won’t be far behind, with lows around -5C. Brrr!
Friday is going to feel pretty cold overall, with highs only reaching about 4C in the afternoon, especially in parts of Pembrokeshire and west of Swansea. The clouds will help keep things chilly. The weekend might bring a slight warm-up, but it’ll still be cold, with Powys again seeing lows around -2C.
Saturday should be a bit better, with highs of 5C in the afternoon. By Monday, we might finally see some normal temperatures, with lows of -2C in north Powys but highs reaching up to 8C. Fingers crossed for that!
As for the forecast, Friday morning is looking pretty bleak, with temperatures dropping to around -5C. The coldest spot in Wales will be in north Powys, hitting -6C overnight. Freezing temps are expected again Friday morning, and it won’t get much better throughout the day.
Saturday morning won’t feel much warmer either, but by the afternoon, we might see highs of around 5C in the far west. Another chilly night is on the way, but Sunday morning should be a bit kinder, with temperatures not plummeting as much as before.
By Sunday, we can expect temperatures to hover around freezing or just above in mid and south Wales. Things are slowly warming up, with midday Sunday possibly reaching 7C. By Monday afternoon, it’ll feel almost tropical with highs of 10C in Pembrokeshire and Anglesey!
Looking ahead, Thursday evening’s forecast warns of very cold conditions with a severe frost and icy patches overnight. Friday is expected to be bright and sunny but still cold, with freezing fog clearing up in the morning. There’s another yellow weather warning for ice in place from 3am to 11am, affecting areas from Pembrokeshire to Monmouthshire.
As the day goes on, it might get cloudier with some rain and snow possible. The weekend will still feel cold, but milder temperatures are on the horizon for next week, with highs of 8C. Let’s hope for some warmth soon!
