Bala: It’s been a wild few days in Wales with snow and ice causing all sorts of trouble. And guess what? More wintry weather is on the way! The Met Office has put out a fresh yellow warning for snow and ice, so keep an eye on the roads if you’re heading out.

This warning kicks in at 5pm on Monday and lasts until 10am Tuesday. They’re saying we should expect sleet and snow showers overnight, which could mess with travel plans. It’s going to be a cold week ahead, with temperatures dipping to -1C today and even lower in the days to come.

Looking ahead to Wednesday through Friday, it’s going to stay chilly. Wednesday might be cloudy, but Thursday could bring some sunshine. Just don’t get too comfy, as rain and hill snow might show up later on Friday.

So, how cold are we talking? The Met Office weather maps suggest it could drop to -6C overnight in some areas. Thursday looks particularly frosty, with places like Bala, Wrexham, and Newtown hitting zero degrees early Tuesday. Carmarthen and Monmouth might see -2C, while Merthyr Tydfil, Builth Wells, and Llandovery could hit -1C.

Wednesday morning starts off with some places, like Carmarthen and Llandeilo, at -4C. It’ll warm up a bit during the day, but expect those chilly temps to return by evening. Thursday kicks off with sub-zero temps across most of Wales, with Lampeter possibly hitting -6C. It’ll warm up a bit around midday but won’t get much above 5C.

As night falls, expect freezing conditions again, with lows of -2C in places like Lampeter and Carmarthen. Friday morning will be another cold one, with Llanwddyn forecasted to be the coldest at -3C. It’ll warm up a bit later, but still stay in the single digits.

Looking further ahead, the long-range forecast from January 11 to 20 suggests generally settled conditions. There might be some fog and variable cloud cover, but any rain or wind will likely be weak. Overall, temperatures should hover around average, but it could be chilly where fog lingers.
