Wales: The Met Office has just updated its snow alert for the weekend. It now includes a warning about freezing rain, which could make things pretty tricky out there. The yellow warning for snow is set to last from Saturday noon until Monday morning, covering most of Wales except for Anglesey.

They’re saying we might see some “disruptive snow” this weekend. Saturday should start off dry, but rain is expected to roll in later, likely starting as snow. By Sunday, it might just turn back to rain.

As the rain moves in from the southwest, it could bring some snow first, especially in the northern areas. The Met Office is warning that while there’s some uncertainty, any snow in southern and eastern England might not stick around for long before changing to rain. But in Wales, the Midlands, and northern England, we could see some significant snow accumulation, especially in higher areas.

They’re predicting that some places in mid and north Wales could see 20-30 cm of snow, and even up to 40 cm in parts of the Pennines. With stronger winds, that could lead to drifting snow, making travel even more challenging.

As milder air moves in, the snow could turn into freezing rain, especially in Wales and the Midlands. This could create icy patches and really dangerous conditions. A quick thaw of the snow is also possible on Sunday, but it’s hard to say how far north that will happen.

The Met Office is reminding everyone that wintry weather can cause delays and make driving risky. They suggest planning your route ahead of time, checking for any road closures, and being ready to change your travel plans if needed. If you do have to drive, make sure your car is ready and pack some essentials just in case you get stuck.

For those heading out on foot, it’s a good idea to leave a bit earlier to avoid slips and falls. Stick to main roads where the paths are likely to be treated. And if you’re cycling, the same advice applies—stay on the main roads.

Weather can change fast, so keep an eye on the forecasts. The Met Office recommends staying updated, especially when warnings are issued. And hey, if you want the latest news, you can join our WhatsApp community for daily updates!
