The Met Office forecasts a mild Christmas with warmer temperatures and some sunny spells following a weekend of severe weather disruptions
Belfast: So, the Met Office has just dropped some news about the Christmas weather, and it looks like we’re in for a pretty mild one. After a rough weekend with all that bad weather, it’s a welcome change.
They’re saying we might have a “grey Christmas,” but hey, at least there will be some sunny spells mixed in. Temperatures are expected to be way above average, which is a nice surprise.
Over the weekend, they had to issue yellow warnings for wind across several regions, including Scotland and Wales. It was a bit chaotic with road congestion and all that, making it tough for folks trying to get away for the holidays.
In fact, there was even a hard landing at Belfast City Airport when a plane’s nose wheel collapsed. Thankfully, no passengers were on board, but it did cause some major delays.
Heathrow had to cancel around 100 flights due to strong winds, so if you’re flying, it’s best to check with your airline. They’re doing their best to keep things running smoothly, though.
And let’s not forget about the ferries! Holyhead port had to close because of damage from Storm Darragh, which is a bummer for many trying to get to Ireland for Christmas.
But looking ahead, the weather is set to improve. The Met Office is predicting some sunny spells and mild temperatures for Christmas Eve and Day, with highs around 12C or 13C. That’s nearly double the usual temps for this time of year!
So, while it might not be a white Christmas, it sounds like it’ll be a cozy one. Just keep an eye on the weather updates if you’re traveling!
