Wales is set for a chilly Thursday with temperatures dropping to -6C, prompting weather warnings for snow and ice across the region.
Wales: It looks like we’re in for a real cold snap this Thursday. The Met Office is warning us that temperatures could dip to a bone-chilling -6C, especially in Powys. They’ve even issued a yellow weather warning for snow and ice, which is in effect from 3am until noon.
So, if you’re planning to head out, be prepared for some delays. Roads and railways might be a bit tricky, and you could find yourself stuck in traffic or waiting longer for your bus or train. The warning covers quite a few areas, including Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, and Wrexham.
As for the weather itself, expect a mix of rain and sleet at lower levels, but snow is likely to fall inland and on higher ground. If you’re out and about, watch out for icy patches on untreated surfaces. Some areas could see a few centimeters of fresh snow, especially if you’re above 100 meters.
Looking at the forecast for Thursday morning, Builth Wells in Powys is expected to be the coldest spot in the country at -6C. It won’t warm up much throughout the morning either, so bundle up if you have to go out!
By the afternoon, temperatures might creep just above freezing, but it’ll still feel pretty chilly. And as the evening rolls in, expect most places to drop back to freezing or below. Friday should bring a slight warm-up, but it’ll still be cold, with daytime temps hovering between 1C and 3C.
So, keep an eye on the weather and stay warm out there! The weekend might bring a bit of sunshine, but don’t forget your coat!
