Wales braces for heavy snow as the Met Office warns of disruptions this weekend
Pembrokeshire: The Met Office has just dropped a snow warning for Wales, and it’s set for the first weekend of 2025. From midday Saturday, January 4, to 9 am Monday, January 6, expect some serious snow.
They’ve issued a yellow weather warning, which means we could see heavy snow causing all sorts of disruptions. Travel delays are likely, and there’s a chance of road closures and public transport getting messed up.
They’re also warning about possible power cuts, and some rural areas might even get cut off. So, it’s a good idea to be prepared.
The Met Office suggests checking your travel plans and being ready for anything. If you’re driving, make sure your car is good to go and pack some essentials like warm clothes, food, and water, just in case you get stuck.
Residents in Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire, and Ceredigion should keep an eye on the weather and be ready for sudden changes. The forecast says rain will move in from the south, but it might start with snow first.
There’s a bit of uncertainty about how much snow we’ll actually get, but they’re saying we could see 5cm or more in some areas, especially in the hills. Higher ground could see 20 to 30cm, which is a lot!
With the winds picking up, that snow could drift around, making things even trickier. And as warmer air tries to push in, we might even get some freezing rain, which could make roads icy.
So, keep an eye on the forecast as things could change. For the latest updates, check out the Met Office website.
