Wales faces multiple weather warnings as snow, rain, and ice impact travel and daily life
Cardiff: So, it looks like Monday is starting off pretty rough for Wales. After a chilly weekend, the Met Office has kept several weather warnings in place. Snow and rain are making things a bit tricky.
Over the weekend, many parts of Wales were under a yellow warning for snow, and some areas even got an amber warning. But if you were hoping for a winter wonderland on Sunday, you might have been let down. The rain came in and washed away those dreams.
Looking ahead, the Met Office has issued warnings for Monday too. There’s a yellow warning for snow and ice, plus another for rain. So, if you’re heading out, be careful!
They’re predicting more snow in northern England and North Wales, with some areas getting 5-10 cm. Rain is also expected to turn into snow at lower levels, especially in northeast Wales. So, it’s going to be a bit of a mess on the roads.
As for the rain, it’s been falling heavily overnight and is expected to continue into Monday morning. They’re saying we could see another 15-25 mm of rain, which might lead to some flooding. Yikes!
Areas like Conwy, Denbighshire, and Gwynedd are among those affected. If you’re in those spots, keep an eye on the weather and plan accordingly.
As the week goes on, the forecast suggests we might see some clearer skies, but don’t get too comfortable. More wintry showers are expected, especially in the north. Just another typical winter week in Wales!
