A new weather warning has been issued as temperatures are set to plummet, raising concerns about icy conditions across parts of Wales
Wales: The Met Office has just put out a new weather warning. It’s a 19-hour alert because temperatures are really dropping. The yellow warning kicks in at 5 PM today and lasts until noon tomorrow.
They’re saying it could get as cold as -6°C in some areas this week. The warning covers places like Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire, Gwynedd, and Wrexham. So, if you’re in those areas, be careful!
The Met Office mentioned that afternoon and evening showers will ease off, but that means ice could form on untreated surfaces. They expect a wintry mix, with a bit of snow accumulating on higher ground.
They also warned that these icy conditions might affect transport. So, watch out for slippery roads, pavements, and cycle paths. It’s easy to slip and fall when it’s icy!
Weather maps show that it’s going to be pretty chilly this week, with Thursday being the coldest day. If you’re heading out, stick to the pavements along main roads—they’re usually less slippery.
And if you’re cycling, it’s best to stay on main roads too. The Met Office suggests leaving home a bit earlier than usual to avoid rushing and potentially slipping on the ice.
