Merseyrail is experiencing significant train cancellations and delays today due to weather and electricity issues affecting multiple lines
Liverpool: This morning, Merseyrail trains are facing a lot of cancellations across various lines. If you’re commuting today, be prepared for some delays. The weather and electricity supply problems are causing quite a bit of disruption.
Lines affected include Chester, Ellesmere Port, Wirral, Southport, and Headbolt Lane via Kirkby. Merseyrail has warned that ongoing poor weather is leading to these changes in service.
Specifically, the Wirral line is seeing cancellations due to electricity supply issues at Birkenhead North. Plus, there’s a yellow weather warning for ice in most of Merseyside, except for some waterfront areas like Hoylake and Formby. This alert is expected to lift by midday.
