York: The new crime drama Patience is making waves with its intriguing cast. It features a familiar face from Breaking Bad and a star from Gentleman Jack.
At the center of the story is Patience Evans, played by Ella Maisy Purvis. She’s an autistic woman working in police records, and her unique skills catch the eye of Detective Bea Metcalf, portrayed by Laura Fraser.
Bea sees potential in Patience and recruits her to help solve serious crimes. The show aims to provide an authentic look at neurodiversity, with all neurodivergent roles played by neurodiverse actors.
Filmed in York and Belgium, the six-part series is set to premiere on January 8 at 9 PM on Channel 4. So, who else is in the cast?
Ella Maisy Purvis shines as Patience, who has an incredible memory and can quickly spot patterns in data. She’s a self-taught criminologist, making her a valuable asset to the team.
Laura Fraser, known for her role as Lydia in Breaking Bad, plays Detective Bea. She’s got the best clear-up rate in the county and finds herself reassessing her life as she works closely with Patience.
Nathan Welsh plays DS Jake Hunter, Bea’s partner. He’s initially confused by Patience’s methods but soon learns to appreciate her unique perspective.
Mark Benton takes on the role of DCI Calvin Baxter, who has his hands full managing the team. Ali Ariaie plays Will Akbari, handling the procedural work, while Adrian Rawlins portrays Douglas Gilmore, Patience’s protector.
