A couple faced a terrifying home invasion by masked men wielding baseball bats while watching a Manchester City match
Ramsbottom: A couple had a terrifying experience when masked men burst into their home. They were just enjoying a Manchester City game when the nightmare began.
Three guys, armed with baseball bats, broke in and attacked them. The husband was watching the game in the lounge while his wife was upstairs, feeling unwell.
As the match neared halftime, chaos erupted. One of the intruders threatened the husband, demanding to know where their valuables were. They claimed to have done their homework and knew the couple had money.
Meanwhile, the wife was asleep upstairs. She woke up to find masked men in her room, and one of them told her to get out of bed. It was a scene straight out of a horror movie.
After getting dressed, she went to the landing, only to be attacked with a bat. She suffered serious bruising, and when her husband heard her screams, he rushed to help.
He tried to fight back but ended up getting hit too. In the struggle, he lost his balance and fell down the stairs, hitting his head and losing consciousness.
When he came to, the intruders were gone, taking with them two Rolex watches worth a fortune, along with a wedding ring and cash. The police found blood at the scene, leading to the arrest of one of the attackers, Anthony Corkovic.
Both victims were left traumatized. The wife now suffers from PTSD and feels unsafe in her own home. She expressed how no one should have to go through such a terrifying ordeal.
Corkovic pleaded guilty to aggravated burglary and was sentenced to eight years in prison. The judge highlighted the lasting psychological impact on the victims, especially the woman.
