Martin Clunes stars in ITV’s new drama series Out There, set in beautiful Wales
Cardiff: A new six-part drama featuring Martin Clunes is coming to ITV this January. The show, called Out There, follows Clunes as Nathan Williams, a farmer facing some dark challenges in his rural community.
Nathan is dealing with the loss of his wife from two years ago while trying to protect his son and farm from local drug dealers. The series was filmed entirely in Wales, and Clunes has shared how much he enjoyed working there.
Written by Ed Whitmore and directed by Marc Evans, who also made BBC’s Steeltown Murders, the show showcases the stunning scenery around the Black Mountains in Powys and Monmouthshire.
Clunes mentioned, “I really enjoyed filming in Wales. The locations were beautiful. I like being on a farm and being in the countryside. I was in my element.”
Out There also features Welsh actor Mark Lewis Jones as Nathan’s brother, along with Carly-Sophia Davies and Gerran Howell as siblings caught up in the drug scene. Natalia Kostrzewa plays Eva, a cleaner who gets involved in the fight against crime.
The series was first announced in September 2023, and the premiere is set for 9 PM on Sunday, January 19. The show will explore how drug dealers invade the land that Nathan loves, threatening his family and livelihood.
Clunes expressed his excitement about working with Evans and Whitmore again, saying, “Out There couldn’t be more different from Doc Martin. It’s pretty dark, but definitely a story worth telling.”
Don’t miss Out There when it airs at 9 PM on ITV1 and ITVX!
