Birmingham: A new map shows where people were caught with weapons in the city centre. It highlights spots where police reported knife, gun, or weapon incidents. The map includes both busy streets and quieter areas.

In just one month, there were 19 reports of weapon possession. Police noted multiple incidents on popular streets like Colmore Row and High Street. This data is from November last year, the latest available from West Midlands Police.

Out of the 19 suspects, seven were waiting for court outcomes. Another seven were still under investigation. In four cases, police couldn’t prosecute the suspects. One case had no listed outcome.

The map details specific locations, including Birmingham New Street station and various shopping areas. It shows where incidents occurred, helping to raise awareness about safety in the city.

Concerns about knife crime have increased, especially after the tragic murder of 12-year-old Leo Ross. He was fatally stabbed while walking home from school in Hall Green.

A 14-year-old boy has been charged with his murder and other assaults. He appeared in court via video link, with a plea hearing scheduled for Spring.

Police Chief Craig Guildford is urging parents to talk to their children about knife crime. He emphasizes the importance of discussing these issues at home and in schools to prevent future incidents.
