A man’s body was found in a Nottingham lake, leading to police investigations and an appeal for witnesses.
Nottingham: A tragic scene unfolded at Wollaton Park when a man’s body was discovered in the lake. This popular spot was quickly evacuated as police arrived after reports from concerned visitors.
Officers got there around 12:59 PM and have already informed the man’s family. Detective Inspector Lisa Jones shared her condolences, saying, “This is a tragic discovery and our thoughts this afternoon are with this man’s family and friends.”
She also mentioned that while they’re still figuring out what happened, they don’t think the death is suspicious at this point.
DI Jones is asking anyone who might have seen anything unusual to step forward. “As we work to understand how this man came to be in the water, I would like to appeal to any additional witnesses to come forward,” she said.
The incident led to visitors being moved away from the historic estate and deer park, and it seems the area might stay closed for a while. Police wrapped up their initial response around 2:30 PM, according to Nottinghamshire Live.
Authorities are eager for any information and are asking people to call 101, referencing incident 265 from January 3, 2025.
