A man was arrested at a bus station after threatening police officers and using abusive language during a tense encounter
Leicester: So, there was this wild scene at the Haymarket Bus Station. A guy named Patrick Farrell, 59, was causing quite a ruckus. The police were trying to arrest him, but he wasn’t having it. He started shouting threats and swearing at them.
Apparently, there was a warrant out for his arrest, and the bus station was packed with people. When the officers found him, he told one of them to back off and even threatened to headbutt him. Can you believe that?
In court, they said he was really aggressive, daring the officers to grab him. He was like, “Go on – grab me if you dare.” It’s a bit shocking, right? The prosecutor mentioned that there were loads of pedestrians around, making the whole situation even more intense.
Farrell has a pretty long record of trouble with the law, including past assaults on emergency workers. One of the officers said it was really alarming, and he decided to step back for safety.
After he was finally arrested, Farrell apologized during his police interview. He told the court he was going through a tough time, having lost his parents and struggling with alcohol and drugs. He pleaded guilty to threatening behavior and common assault.
Now, the magistrates are waiting for a pre-sentence report from the Probation Service before deciding his fate. So, we’ll have to see what happens next.
