Eamonn Delaney faced an eight-hour delay with no communication from Ryanair, leading to frustration and extra costs
Eamonn had flown in for the Galway Poker Festival and left his accommodation early to avoid icy roads. His flight was supposed to leave at 9 AM but didn’t take off until 5:20 PM. He kept checking the Ryanair app, which kept pushing back the departure time.
He mentioned that there was no communication from the airline. Other flights were taking off without issues, but Ryanair staff seemed to vanish for hours. After a long wait, he finally got a “muffled” announcement about a €4 voucher, which he found laughable since it barely covered a snack.
When they finally boarded, they had to wait even longer for the plane to be de-iced. Eamonn said it was a chaotic experience, especially for older passengers who had no food or drink. He felt bad for them, as they were all just sitting there with no help.
To make matters worse, he ended up paying an extra £15 for parking because he was late. Ryanair later claimed they sent out updates, but Eamonn felt they could have done much better. The airport also explained that the weather made things tough, but Eamonn just wanted better communication and support during the long wait.
