Rochdale: A man who tragically lost his life on New Year’s Day has been named. The 38-year-old, Alberto Ursu, died after a stabbing incident on Essex Street.

It all went down in the early hours of January 1. A 30-year-old man, Hassan Suliman, has been charged with murder and other offenses. He appeared in court today.

Suliman, from Rothesay Terrace, is facing some serious charges, including possession of a weapon. He’s been remanded in custody and will be back in court tomorrow.

Emergency services rushed to the scene around 2:40 AM. Sadly, Mr. Ursu was found with a severe knife wound. It’s a heartbreaking situation for the community.

Detective Inspector Paul Davies from Greater Manchester Police is urging anyone with information to step forward. He expressed condolences to the victim’s family during this tough time.
