A man is in the hospital with serious injuries after an alleged assault outside a Newport takeaway, prompting a police investigation.
Newport: A man is in the hospital after a nasty incident on a busy street. It all went down on Commercial Road in Pillgwenlly, and it sounds pretty serious.
On Friday afternoon, police had a cordon set up while forensics were doing their thing. They’re still looking for answers, and no arrests have been made yet.
According to the police, they got a call about the assault around 5:35 AM. When they arrived, they found a 32-year-old man with some pretty serious injuries.
The road was closed for about six hours but reopened just before noon. However, they’re still keeping part of the area cordoned off outside Chan’s Noodle Bar while they continue their investigation.
Emergency services were quick to respond, and the man was taken to the hospital. The police are asking anyone who might have seen anything to reach out and help them out with their inquiries.
