A man from Cwmbran called emergency services on his ex but faced legal trouble after making abusive calls to the police
Cwmbran: So, there’s this guy, Nathan Smith, who thought it was a good idea to call 999 on his ex. He claimed she was about to do something illegal. But when the police asked for more details, he just lost it.
This all went down last June. Nathan made six calls to the police, and let’s just say, he wasn’t exactly polite. His lawyer said he was worried about his ex driving after a fight, but he got really erratic and aggressive.
The prosecutor shared that Nathan was verbally abusive to the call handler. He even threatened to bite a police officer’s nose off! Can you believe that? The police had to hang up because he was just too foul-mouthed.
Turns out, Nathan has had some issues before. He recently got a community order for another incident where he racially abused a cop. His lawyer mentioned that he’s dealing with mental health problems and was having a rough time.
In that earlier case, he had to do some community service and attend mental health sessions. Now, he’s trying to turn things around. He wants to quit drinking and smoking weed so he can get his driving license back.
The magistrates decided to keep him on the community order, hoping it’ll help him stay on the right path. They also slapped him with a fine and some costs. Fingers crossed he gets it together!
