The accident happened around 2:55 PM on January 28. It took place on Fairfield Road. The girl, Tori Walton, was walking home from school when the collision occurred.
Tori had just finished school at Outwood Academy Bishopsgarth. She was heading to her grandmother’s house when she was hit at the junction with Upsall Grove.
She suffered a deep cut on her head that needed 17 staples. Thankfully, a passing driver stopped to help and called for an ambulance.
Paramedics took Tori to North Tees University Hospital. There, doctors treated her head wound and checked her condition.
Cleveland Police reported that a 55-year-old man was arrested. He is suspected of failing to stop after the accident and causing serious injury.
The man has been released on bail while investigations continue. Police are asking anyone with information or dashcam footage to contact them.
