A man was arrested after threatening a garda with a gun during a robbery in Kilmainham, highlighting the bravery of the officers involved.
What he didn’t know was that two plainclothes gardai were already in the store. A male and female officer were there, unarmed, but ready to act. When the male garda realized what was happening, he confronted the robber.
Things got tense when the masked man pointed the gun at him. Luckily, the female officer jumped in to help, and together they managed to disarm and restrain the guy. A bystander also stepped in to assist, which was great to see.
More garda units arrived quickly, and the man, who’s in his 40s, was arrested. He’s now being held at a garda station in Dublin. They believe the firearm he used was a replica, and they’re looking into it further.
Both officers are getting the support they need after this scary situation. It’s a reminder of the risks they take every day to keep us safe.
