PD Stark, the brave police dog, is retiring after a heroic career with West Midlands Police
Birmingham: A police dog named PD Stark is hanging up his badge after a wild career. This brave pup survived a brutal machete attack back in 2020, where he was hit up to 20 times. Can you believe that? He took some serious injuries to his face but bounced back like a champ.
It all went down when Stark was chasing suspected burglars one early morning. Out of nowhere, a guy with a machete came at him. The poor dog got some nasty head wounds, and his handler thought he might lose an eye. But Stark wasn’t done yet. Just a few months later, he was back on the job, tracking down criminals.
After six years of service with the West Midlands Police, Stark is finally ready to retire. He’s been a general purpose and firearms dog, and he’s done a ton of work with his handler, PC Paul Hopley. Together, they’ve been involved in loads of investigations and searches.
Stark even got a Bravery Award for his courage during that machete attack. He refused to let go of the suspect, which is just incredible. PC Hopley and Stark have been a team since 2019, and they’ve shared some unforgettable moments.
Even though Stark is retiring, he’s not going far. He’ll still be with PC Hopley, who said he couldn’t have asked for a better partner. They’ve built a special bond, and Stark is basically part of the family now. Hopley can’t wait to spoil him rotten in retirement!
Stark is also a star at Crufts, showing off his skills to everyone. It’s clear that police dogs like Stark are super important for keeping the public safe and bringing smiles to faces.
