A vehicle overturned on the M74, causing heavy traffic and delays near Glasgow as emergency services respond to the scene
Glasgow: There’s a bit of a mess on the M74 northbound into Glasgow after a vehicle flipped over. Traffic is crawling, and it’s not looking good.
The road is partially blocked near Hamilton, close to Junction 5 for the Bellshill Bypass. You can see a vehicle on its side in traffic camera images, with firefighters, police, and paramedics all on the scene.
Right now, only one lane is open, and the two lanes next to the hard shoulder are closed off. Traffic Scotland says the queues are stretching back to Larkhall, which is about four miles away from where the accident happened.
They’re reporting delays of around 35 minutes as folks try to get through. A spokesperson mentioned that the northbound lane at Junction 5 is restricted due to this collision.
Emergency services are still on-site, and it looks like it’s going to take a while to clear things up. GlasgowLive has reached out to Police Scotland and the fire and ambulance services for more details.
