Drivers on the M32 should prepare for seven weeks of overnight closures due to essential maintenance work on the Eastville Viaduct
Bristol: So, here’s the scoop. If you’re driving on the M32, get ready for some overnight closures. They’re kicking off soon and will last for about seven weeks. It’s all to check out the Eastville Viaduct at junction 2.
The folks at National Highways say these surveys are super important. They want to make sure the motorway is in good shape and figure out if any future work is needed. They actually started checking the underside of the viaduct last November.
Starting this month, they’ll be looking at the topside too. This means some parts of the M32 and the slip roads at junction 2 will be closed. The closures will happen overnight, from 8 PM to 6 AM, so plan ahead if you’re heading out.
Sean Walsh, the route manager, mentioned that safety is their top priority. He apologized for the hassle but stressed that these inspections are crucial for keeping the road safe in the long run.
He gets that road closures can be a pain, but they’re doing this to get the work done quickly and safely, which should help reduce overall disruption.
Here’s a quick rundown of the closures:
A small section of Stapleton Road
That little stretch of Stapleton Road under the M32 at J2 will be closed for two nights on January 15 and 16.
M32 southbound between J1 and J3
The M32 southbound will be closed for two nights on January 19 and 20.
The Muller Road southbound entry and exit slip roads
These slip roads and Lane 1 of the M32 southbound will be closed for 17 nights, only on weekdays, from January 21 to February 12.
M32 northbound between J1 and J3
The northbound side will be closed for two nights on February 13 and 16.
The Muller Road northbound entry and exit slip roads
These will also be closed for 16 nights, again only on weekdays, from February 17 to March 10.
