Louis Rees-Zammit reflects on a whirlwind year as he embraces new challenges in American football and shares gratitude with fans
Jacksonville: Louis Rees-Zammit just shared a sweet New Year’s message on social media. Can you believe it’s been almost a year since he left rugby to chase his American football dreams?
In the last year, he went through quite the journey. He joined the International Player Pathway program, got signed by the Kansas City Chiefs, then dropped, and finally landed with the Jacksonville Jaguars on their practice squad.
Looking back on this wild ride, he posted some great photos and a heartfelt note on Instagram. He said, “What a crazy year it’s been!” He really appreciates all the support he’s received.
This Christmas was a bit different for him since it was his first away from home. But he spent it with family in Florida, which must have been nice.
As the current season wraps up, with the Super Bowl coming up on February 9, he’s still waiting for his chance to play. He’s on the practice squad and can be elevated to the main team a few times this season, but that hasn’t happened yet.
For now, it’s all about learning the game for the 23-year-old. He’s focused on making that 53-man roster for next season. Exciting times ahead!
