A hotel in Lostwithiel has halted alcohol and pork sales to align with its new owners’ cultural values
Lostwithiel: A hotel in Cornwall has decided to stop selling alcohol and pork. This change is all about the new owners wanting to create a healthier and more inclusive vibe. The Fowey Valley Hotel, which was sold earlier this year, is now under the management of H&H Hotels.
Located on Castle Hill, this hotel has 38 ensuite rooms, a restaurant, a bar, and even a swimming pool. It’s a pretty nice spot! Recently, they updated their website to announce the new policy. Jane Mead, the deputy general manager, shared that this decision reflects their commitment to respecting different dietary preferences and cultural practices.
They want to make sure everyone feels welcome, whether you’re there for work or a little getaway. The hotel has been recognized as the Best Western Hotel of the Year in 2023, which is quite an achievement! They currently have 26 staff members working hard to keep things running smoothly.
We reached out to the hotel to see if this decision might affect their business. Unfortunately, no one was available to chat, but they did say it was a choice made by H&H Hotels. The managing director, Hassan Arif, started this hotel group and has several locations across England.
We even tried to contact Mr. Arif through LinkedIn since there weren’t any public contact numbers. Best Western also chimed in, stating that each hotel operates independently, so this decision is specific to the Fowey Valley Hotel and doesn’t apply to all their locations.
H&H Hotels has a variety of properties, including hotels in London and other parts of England. It’ll be interesting to see how guests react to these changes at the Fowey Valley Hotel!
