A contractor, lost after a night out, crashed into a parked car in Oadby
Leicestershire: So, there was this guy, Glenn Redwood, who got a bit lost after a night out. He had a few pints and then grabbed a bite at McDonald’s. But things took a turn when he couldn’t find his hotel.
Glenn, a 50-year-old contractor from the Forest of Dean, was in town for work. After some Christmas shopping, he hit the Nine Bar for drinks. But when he tried to head back to his hotel, his phone died, and he ended up in the wrong place.
That’s when he crashed into a parked car on Brabazon Road in Oadby. The police showed up, arrested him, and took him in. Turns out, he blew a reading of 52 micrograms of alcohol per 100ml of breath, way over the legal limit.
In court, his lawyer mentioned that Glenn might have dozed off while driving. He had a long day at work and was feeling pretty tired. After shopping and drinking, he was just trying to find his way back.
Glenn’s situation wasn’t great. He was self-employed and struggling to keep his business afloat. He even showed up in court on crutches. The magistrates took his circumstances into account when deciding his punishment.
In the end, he got a 12-month driving ban and had to pay a fine. It’s a tough lesson learned for Glenn, who just wanted to get home after a long day.
