Sunderland: A woman named Laura Parks has been busy raising nearly £3,000 for the team that helped find her parents’ dog, Maisie. This little whippet went missing while her folks were on holiday.

Maisie, just four years old, escaped from a dog boarding house while Laura’s parents were flying to Gran Canaria. She was lost for eight long days! Laura was frantic and tried to reach her parents, but their phones were off during the flight.

When they finally landed, Laura’s mum could barely hear her on the phone. She knew it was about Maisie since the boarding house had also tried to call her. During those eight days, Maisie was spotted several times, and Laura kept track of those sightings on a map.

Eventually, Laura turned to The Lost Dog Trapping Team for help. They figured out where Maisie might be hanging around and set up a trap with some clever tricks. They made scent trails using fish oils and OXO cubes to guide her to the trap, which was filled with delicious sausages and steak.

Finally, after eight days, Maisie was found in Ryhope, right between Laura’s house and her parents’ place. It was perfect timing since her parents had just returned from their trip. Laura joked that she could have told them Maisie was on a diet!

The Lost Dog Trapping Team’s efforts are no small feat. Each trap costs around £3,000, which is the same amount Laura hopes to raise. They use doorbells to ensure they catch the right dog, along with Wi-Fi and feeding stations. Laura is incredibly grateful to the team for bringing Maisie home.
