St Neots: There’s a lot of chatter about the new hospital programme lately. The Health Secretary, Wes Streeting, just announced plans to relaunch it, and folks are eager for action.

The project aims to build and rebuild several hospitals across the UK. Streeting promised to secure sustainable funding to make sure everything gets done.

Hinchingbrooke Hospital and the Cambridge Cancer Research Hospital are on the list for redevelopment. Ian Sollom, the MP for St Neots and Mid Cambridgeshire, is really pushing for the Government to get moving. He’s had enough of the delays and wants work to start ASAP.

He pointed out that after years of unfulfilled promises, the NHS is in rough shape, and it’s the people in his area who are suffering. After visiting Hinchingbrooke, he saw firsthand how hard the staff are working to keep patients safe, but they can’t keep it up under these conditions.

Sollom insists the Government needs to speed things up and not drag its feet any longer. He’s committed to holding them accountable until the last brick is laid.

In the announcement, both hospitals were included in the first wave of projects, with construction expected to kick off between 2025 and 2030. Streeting mentioned several other hospitals in the mix, too, so it looks like there’s a lot on the horizon.
