Axel Rudakubana is set to learn his fate today after pleading guilty to the tragic murders of three young girls in Southport
Southport: So, today’s the day Axel Rudakubana is back in court. He’s going to be sentenced for the awful murders of three little girls at a dance class. It’s just heartbreaking.
This 18-year-old from Banks pleaded guilty to all 16 charges on the first day of his trial. The girls, Alice, Bebe, and Elsie, were just nine, six, and seven years old. They lost their lives during a Taylor Swift-themed class on July 29.
Rudakubana was only 17 when this tragedy happened. He also admitted to trying to hurt eight other kids and two adults. Thankfully, they survived, but it’s still a nightmare for everyone involved.
He’s not likely to get a whole-life sentence since he was under 18 at the time. Those sentences are usually reserved for older offenders. But he did plead guilty to some serious charges, including having a knife and even producing a deadly toxin called ricin.
Police found some pretty disturbing stuff at his home, including documents about terrorism and the Rwandan genocide. It’s chilling to think about what was going on in his mind.
Today, he’ll find out how long he’ll be in prison. The court reporters are on it, so we’ll get live updates as it all unfolds. It’s a tough day for the families affected, and our hearts go out to them.
