Coalville: The folks at the Belvoir Shopping Centre are really trying to save one of their stores. The clothing shop Select has announced it might close, and that’s not good news for the centre.

Select has been around in different spots at the shopping centre for a while now. They’ve put up signs about a “closing down sale,” which is never a good sign. But the centre’s owner, Gylo, is on it, hoping to keep them around.

So far, there’s no official word on when Select will close, but it would be a real bummer for the shopping centre. Just last year, Shoe Zone decided to shut down some of its stores, including the one in Belvoir, thanks to rising costs from the government.

Speaking of closures, Home Bargains is also moving out soon. They’re relocating to a new spot on Bridge Road, which means their Belvoir branch will close at the end of January. It’s a bit of a shake-up for the area.

Gylo is working hard to keep Select in the centre. Nick Harcus mentioned they’re in talks with the store to see if they can make it work. It’s tough for high street shops everywhere, not just in Coalville.

On a brighter note, Coalville is still a great place to shop. They’ve been investing in the centre and are chatting with some exciting new businesses that want to come to town. The arrival of a new Iceland store and Pure Gym shows that people still want to visit.

LeicestershireLive has reached out to Select and Shoe Zone for updates, but no word back yet. Fingers crossed for some good news!
