Gwent Police found a massive cannabis farm with over 2000 plants in a derelict building in Newport, raising concerns about illegal operations.
Newport: A large cannabis farm was discovered by Gwent Police under the Travelodge on Bridge Street. They were actually responding to a different incident when they caught a whiff of something suspicious.
Curious about the smell, they checked it out and found over 2000 cannabis plants filling the abandoned building. Talk about a surprise!
Police are still on the scene, having seized the plants and a mobile phone. It’s a big deal, and they’re taking it seriously.
A spokesperson from Gwent Police mentioned that they were initially called about a motorcycle fire. But then, the cannabis smell led them to this hidden operation.
They’ve set up a cordon around the area and even cut off the power supply to the building. It sounds like they’re really on top of things.
Sergeant Paul Turner from Newport Central said they disrupted a significant operation. The investigation is ongoing, and officers will be around to gather more information.
If anyone has tips or info, they can reach out through the police website, call 101, or even message them on social media. There’s also the option to report anonymously through Crimestoppers.
