Cradley Heath: A big landslip has caused a real mess for homeowners on a new estate. They can’t even drive to their houses anymore, which is just crazy.

This all started back in March last year when a wall gave way, and despite some sandbags being put up, the recent bad weather made things worse. Now, a huge pile of earth is blocking the road completely.

About a dozen families are stuck. They have to park far away and walk through neighbors’ gardens just to get home. It’s not just inconvenient; it’s a bit of a trek, especially with kids in tow.

One resident, Reece, has been living there for four years and said it’s been a nightmare. His driveway has been blocked since March, and he’s worried the landslide could creep closer to his home.

He mentioned that the parking situation has gotten worse since October, and every time he steps outside, he’s greeted by a big pile of mud. Not exactly a welcoming sight!

Reece also pointed out that the lack of street lighting makes it even scarier for families, especially with little ones. It’s a dangerous situation, and he feels like no one is taking responsibility for it.

Another resident, Rachael, echoed his concerns. She’s not one of the blocked-off houses, but she’s still feeling the impact. She’s letting a neighbor use part of her driveway, and it’s just chaotic.

Rachael said the whole situation has been left hanging for too long. The developers are pointing fingers, and it’s frustrating for everyone involved. They just want some clarity on who’s responsible for fixing this mess.

Dunedin Homes, the developer, said they know it’s their responsibility to make things safe, but they’re also dealing with legal stuff. They started work in December, but it got paused for the holidays.

Sandwell Council is aware of the situation and is in touch with the developer, but since it’s a private road, they can’t do much. Residents are just hoping for a quick resolution so they can get back to normal life.
