Homeowners in Cradle Heath face access issues after a landslide blocks their road, leaving them to trek from their properties.
Cradle Heath: Residents who splurged on new homes are feeling the pinch after a landslide cut off their access. Imagine paying £400K and then being unable to drive to your own place!
The landslide has left folks parking far away and trekking across neighbors’ gardens just to get home. It all started last March when a wall gave way, and despite some sandbags, the recent weather made things worse.
Now, about a dozen homeowners are stuck. They can’t even get their cars in or out. Reece, one of the residents, says it’s been a total nightmare. He hasn’t been able to use his driveway since March, and he’s worried the landslide might creep closer to his garden.
With a one-year-old at home, he’s feeling the stress. Rachael, another resident, agrees that the situation is just getting worse. The lack of street lighting adds to the danger, especially with families having to walk past the landslide.
Even though the estate is privately owned, Reece thinks Sandwell Council should step in. But they say it’s a private road, so they’re not responsible. Dunedin Homes, the developer, claims they’re aware of the issue and are working on it, but residents are still left in limbo.
It’s a tough situation for everyone involved, and the community is hoping for a quick resolution. They just want to get back to normal life without the hassle of dodging landslides!
