Airdrie FC’s generous donation of 900 pies brings joy to the local foodbank and community.
Airdrie: So, here’s the scoop! A foodbank in Lanarkshire got a fantastic surprise when Airdrie FC had to postpone their match. They ended up with 900 pies that needed a home.
John Malcolm, who runs the Wee Mobile Food Bank, got the call after the game was called off. The club didn’t want all those delicious pies to go to waste, so they reached out to him.
John jumped into action, collecting the pies and sharing them with folks in need. It was a real win-win for the community, especially with everyone feeling the pinch in January.
He mentioned that in the past, Airdrie has donated food to other charities, but this time, they were able to act fast. The pies were ready to go, and they didn’t want them sitting around.
After a quick post on Facebook, the response was overwhelming. People were thrilled to get a hot pie on a chilly night, and it really brightened their day.
John and his wife spent hours delivering the pies around Airdrie and nearby areas. They made sure to spread the joy, and it was heartwarming to see the smiles on everyone’s faces.
He said it was great that the food was going to locals, and nobody went home empty-handed. It’s amazing how a simple gesture can make such a big difference!
