A Lanarkshire family is heartbroken after losing their mother, leaving the eldest daughter to care for her siblings in a tough time
Lanarkshire: A family is going through a really tough time after losing their mum. Dayna Talbot, the eldest at 27, is now the guardian of her younger siblings.
Her mum, Mandy, passed away at just 51, leaving Dayna and her siblings feeling lost. They’re trying to cope with this huge loss and figure out life without her.
Dayna shared with Glasgow Live how their family has faced so much heartache. They lost their dad back in 2008, and then their step-dad in 2021. It’s been a rough road for them.
Things took another turn when Mandy was hospitalized for pneumonia. Dayna thought her mum was getting better, but then everything changed. On January 2, Mandy passed away, and it hit the family hard.
Dayna, who just became a mum herself, feels heartbroken. She misses their long chats and the fun times they had together. Mandy was not just a mum; she was also a best friend.
To make matters worse, Dayna found out her mum didn’t have life insurance. Mandy had to cancel it after her husband died, and now the family is struggling financially. They’re trying to keep their home in Moodiesburn.
They’ve set up a GoFundMe to help with funeral costs and to ease some financial stress. Dayna is doing her best to hold everything together for her siblings.
Dayna hopes her brother James can help by re-mortgaging their house. This way, the younger kids won’t have to change schools or leave their friends.
In a heartfelt tribute, Dayna expressed how much they all miss their mum. She was loving, fun, and always there for them. Dayna will forever cherish the memories they made together.
It’s a tough time for this family, and they’re leaning on each other for support. They know their mum will always be in their hearts.
