A spontaneous drum n bass performance lights up Manchester’s New Year celebrations, bringing joy to the crowd despite the rain.
Manchester: It’s a rainy night in the city, but that hasn’t stopped the New Year’s party vibes. People are gathering in St Peter’s Square for the fireworks, and a group of lads decided to bring the beats.
They set up an impromptu drum n bass set right there, and it’s a sight to see! A DJ is wheeling his speakers around in a trolley, pumping out tunes for everyone waiting for the show.
The guy behind this fun idea is Luke, 32, originally from Kent but now calling Manchester home. He’s a big music lover and usually plays at home, but tonight he wanted to share the joy.
Luke said, “It’s New Year’s Eve, so I thought I’d come out here and play some music. It can lift spirits and cheer people up, so I’m going to be out here for hours.”
He knows it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but most folks either dance a little or just enjoy the atmosphere. It’s all about having a good time!
Meanwhile, flood alerts are in effect due to the rain, and the Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning. Still, Manchester City Council is determined to keep the New Year’s festivities going strong.
They’re expecting around 20,000 people for the fireworks display, which is happening in St Peter’s Square for the first time. The show kicks off at 10 PM and runs until 12:30 AM, featuring a live stage with DJ Joe McGrath leading the countdown to midnight.
