Fife: It’s alarming that kids were found with weapons many times last year. One boy had a firearm, and another, just 10 years old, carried a knife in Edinburgh.

Most kids in Scotland don’t think about carrying weapons. However, the fact that some do shows there’s a real problem we need to address.

We need to do more to guide children and keep them safe. It’s tough for many families facing these issues.

Authorities are now dealing with violence being filmed and shared on smartphones. Teachers say abusive behavior is increasing in classrooms.

At Kirkintilloch High School in Dunbartonshire, teachers are walking out due to regular verbal abuse and violence. They feel there are no serious consequences for the students involved.

Teachers shouldn’t have to endure such behavior. The Record’s Our Kids… Our Future campaign started to tackle youth violence in Scotland.

Two years later, we still see shocking examples of youth violence. Change is needed, and everyone can help.
