A Hull man received a stern warning from a judge after assaulting a police officer during a failed escape attempt
Hull: A young motorcyclist, James Smith, found himself in hot water after a wild attempt to escape from the police. He got into a scuffle and even punched an officer in the face. Talk about a bad day!
It all went down when plainclothes officers spotted him acting suspiciously on a motorcycle. When a female officer asked him to stop, he decided to make a run for it. Wearing a balaclava and with no insurance, he dashed down an alley.
But he didn’t get far. As he tried to climb over a fence, the police grabbed his shirt, and it started to rip. In a panic, he swung at one of the officers, landing a punch that cut the officer’s lip. Not cool, right?
After his arrest, they found some cocaine on him. This wasn’t his first run-in with the law either; he had a history of drug offenses. His lawyer argued that Smith regretted his actions and wished he could take it all back.
Judge John Thackray didn’t hold back. He told Smith that his behavior was disgraceful, especially since he was already on a suspended sentence. The judge handed down a six-month suspended prison sentence, along with community service and rehab.
Smith was also ordered to pay £500 to the injured officer. The judge made it clear: this is your last chance, so he better stay out of trouble for the next year!
