A judge sentences a prolific shoplifter, emphasizing Swansea deserves better than his repeated crimes
Swansea: So, there’s this guy, Joshua Yeo, who just can’t seem to stay out of trouble. He recently got caught shoplifting again, and this time he swiped over £2,500 worth of stuff, including Lego and Yankee candles. Can you believe it? He was already on a suspended sentence for previous thefts!
The court found out that Yeo has a whopping 130 previous convictions. That’s a lot! The judge was pretty fed up and said it was time for the people of Swansea to not have to deal with thieves like him anymore.
During a few months last year, he hit up stores like Tesco and B&M Bargains, stealing all sorts of items. The police caught him on CCTV, which is pretty hard to escape from these days. He was just a repeat offender, and it was clear he needed to face the music.
His lawyer mentioned that Yeo had been working on some personal issues while in prison, and there were signs he might be turning things around. The judge acknowledged that, but still, he had to make it clear that enough was enough.
In the end, Yeo got a two-year prison sentence, plus some extra time for his previous suspended sentence. He’ll serve half of that in prison before being released. Hopefully, this time he’ll really think about his choices.
