James, who played the hilarious Smithy, talked about how his friend Gavin met his girlfriend through work. They would chat on the phone for hours, just like the characters in the show.
He recalled, “My mate Gavin met his girlfriend because he worked in sales and she worked in accounts. They ended up talking on the phone for ages.”
Then Gavin told James he was going to meet her, and James was shocked. But after a fun weekend together, Gavin fell head over heels in love, and they eventually got married.
